A Heart Like Stone

Father,

May my words be few
May my feet not be swift
Let my heart be filled by you
Every place and changing shift

Satan’s telling me lies
I cannot withstand
Every bit of it seems real
I’m eating every word out of his hands

I’m giving into these lies
It just isn't right
Not when every single person is telling me
I seem alright

They don’t see me like you do
My heart is so cold
And I am worthless
Through and through

I look for my needs
I look for my highs
I look for my pride
I look at every each way and side

To see what I can do to the limit
Before I break a rule
Right before I am kicked with the reality
That I am such a fool

Father, let me see myself
Through your eyes
Let all my ugliness
Come into the light

By then I know you care
To turn me away
Before I am found in despair
Caused by my carelessness, not wanting to hear...

You are stillness
You are a whisper
You are patience
You are light

You are mercy
You are grace
You are beauty
You are peace...

Father
May my words be few
May my feet be less swift
Let my heart be filled by you
Every place and changing shift

"The LORD said, 'Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.' Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind.
