Rainy Words

"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah" ~Psalm 62:8

I know a lot of us are going through tumultuous happenings right now. I have heard about you who are sick, caring for a loved one who is sick, dealing with the overall consequences of people's actions against you, having strained relationships, holding summer jobs that might as well define your life, and you who have more on your plate than you can chew. I've been praying for that time in our lives where we can stop and think about God's truths and promises. That moment, or moments, in our day when we are in awe of the promises and stillness of God's peace amongst the chaos and ruins in this life.

I want us to do one thing from now on in our lives, and if you have to get an accountability partner so you can stay on track, by all means, please do. I want us to depend on God no matter how busy we are in our lives; whether or not we planned on a busy schedule. Make that time with God. Know he is the support system we need. The only person who will give us strength to do what we actually need to do. Sometimes we have to say no or walk away from a situation that we have gotten ourselves into. Other times it's simply just resting in what he has brought into our lives and we can thank God that he knows what's going on. He knows our struggles. We don't have to be mere humans crying empty tears and words that echo nowhere. God will listen.

Start today listening for what he asks us. The offer is on the table. You have to go to him to let him know you are ready to hear from him. And when you have decided that, get into his word. That is where he is going to talk to you. He's never going to make us hang in there with nothing at all. In human terms, the least I can think he may give us is the strength to endure the hardship before the morning comes. Sometimes we do not notice it, though, until the storm passes.

So pour out your heart to him. Let him be God. Let him be that time you look forward to, and where you find the foundation of your life for today. He is all we need.
