Comfort

2 Corinthians 1

I’ve been through a lot. You’ve been through a lot. We each have stories that have mold and shaped the person we are today. Thank the Lord that we have personal stories to tell others when they are hurting to comfort them. Praise Him that we have comfort from others who have been through similar circumstances. Let’s get one thing straight—this world is fallen. It's not perfect. That's why it's temporary. Life as we know it is like grass that whither away (1 Peter 1:24). I think once we’re in heaven and realize all that has been waiting for us and the time—THE actual time of eternity if there ever such a word to describe it besides forever or eternal—will make us realize all we held dear in our lives or stressed over were petty. So when we are faced with circumstances that make us question the validity of God's love for us, one thing I think we need to know are the stories of his faithfulness. How do we get to know that? Through the Word, the remembrance of  blessings in our lives, and fellow believers who can testify of His faithfulness in their own lives.

When I have more time, I’d like to elaborate more on this idea, but for now, think about this:

What have I learned from the Lord about his faithfulness in past circumstances in my life and what purpose does that serve in my life and other lives today?

Jesus says in Revelation 2:4 that we are not to forget our first love; that is Him. I know whenever I am bummed in life or I need one reason for why I need to humble myself before God (let’s say that is everyday!), I try to remember what the Lord has done for me. In doing so, I remember his great love for me and his faithfulness. Not only that, but I keep memories close by so that I may praise him and hopefully encourage others along the way. God bless, and good night!

  1. I couldn't agree more. When you are in the middle of the storm, you curse at God and wonder why in the world you are going through this. But after the storm passes you realize that there's a reason why you had to go through it. You start to realize what is important to you and who you care about the most. You may not believe that going through the storm is such a fun thing to do, but if you look back at it years later, you realize that it was the harsh times that you went through that made you who you are. You are who you are because of your experiences, and the one who allowed you to go through the journey was God.
Sometimes I feel that it's cruel of him to make us go through so much and have us realize something over and over. But then on the other hand, without him I wouldn't be able to know what's important to me, because it was him who allowed me to figure out what I hold most dearly to me.
I should remember to thank Him more and that all of this is leading to something good :)
