What I want to do today...

Psalm 103

This is one of my favorite chapters throughout the whole Bible. It covers a magnitude of what the psalmist is thankful to God for and why it's vital to do so. After reading this chapter, I want to remember what God has done in my life. I want to seek after Him because He sought after me (John 3:16; Psalm 37:4;Matt.7:7-8;1 John 4:19). I want to remember the pits that I have been in and pulled out by Him. (vv.4) I want to remember His love and compassion towards me, and the evidence to prove it (vv.4). I also want to give Him thanks for all He has done and all He will do (Jeremiah 29:11; Proverbs 3:5-6; Romans 8:28; Rev.4:8). In doing so, I am reminded what good plans God has for me whether my life is in a good or bad season (Psalm 25:16; Jeremiah 29:11; Matt.28:20; Romans 12:2; Philippians 4:6-7). I am reminded what I have in Christ and what he has for me (John 1:12; John 3:16-18; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 9:15). I am reminded not to be content in where I am in life that it blinds me from having a heart set only on Him and the Kingdom to come (Luke 10:27; Colossians 3:1-2).

Today, whether you are having a good or bad day, give praise to God. I know it’s hard if you are the one having the rough day. Sometimes I feel like I can only thank him for never letting me miss a meal because I couldn’t afford it or just having clothes on my back. Let me say, though, after giving thanks to him, you come to realize those little things add up. Thank him for your salvation in Christ. Money in your pocket. A roof over your head. Your spouse. Your friends. Food. Water. Your job. There are many things to thank him for. So start recognizing those things today!
